President Obama Campaign Is ‘Still About Hope, S

RICHMOND, Va. — At his second rally on a debut 2012 campaign tour, President Obama declared that the central question that voters must consider come November is not whether they are better off than before he took office but “how we’ll be doing tomorrow.”

“Over and over again, they will tell you that America is down and out, and they’ll tell you who to blame, and ask if you’re better off than you were before the worst crisis in our lifetimes,” Obama said of Republicans and his opponent Mitt Romney, who had already begun aggressively raising the question after his first stop of the day in Columbus Buy Windows 7 Product Key, Ohio.

“But you know, the real question — the question that will actually make a difference in your lives and the lives of your children — is not just how we’re doing today, but how we’ll be doing tomorrow,” he said.

Obama spoke inside the Siegel Center at Virginia Commonwealth University to a near capacity crowd of 8,000 supporters, many holding bright blue placards with the campaign’s new slogan “Forward” emblazoned on the front.

“When we look back four years from now Windows Vista Key, or 10 years from now, or 20 years from now, won’t we be better off if we have the courage to keep moving forward?” he said. “That’s the question in this election.  That’s the question in this election.  And the outcome is entirely up to you.”

Obama also offered a veiled rebuttal to Republican criticism that his visits to Ohio and Virginia amount to a “hype and blame tour” — a label meant to mock his 2008 campaign slogan of “hope and change.”

“If people ask you what this campaign is about, you tell them it’s still about hope.  You tell them it’s still about change,” Obama said.  “You tell them it’s still about ordinary people who believe that in the face of great odds, we can make a difference in the life of this country.”

The Republican National Committee sharply criticized Obama’s framing of the general election race as moving the “goal posts” he set four years ago.

“Four years ago President Obama set the goal posts with the question of ‘will this country be better off four years from now?’ Four years later, a crowd of his supporters gave him the answer so many Americans agree with — a resounding no Windows 7 Product Key,” said RNC chairman Reince Priebus.

“Even though Obama would like us to forget he’s been president the past three years, Americans aren’t satisfied with the Obama policies,” he said.

The committee also began circulating a web video, titled “Are We Satisfied? No!” tweaking the president for his comments. The video can be viewed here.

Corinna company to offer badge wallets with Radio

Posted By admin on May 17, 2012

CORINNA, Maine — With every advance in technology stands someone looking to take illegal advantage of it.

Some credit cards are now equipped with Radio Frequency Identification replica watches, or RFID, which allows a card user to hold his credit card over a terminal to purchase an item without swiping the card.

Thieves have found a way of stealing that information when the card is in the person’s pocket or purse by using an electronic device called a “skimmer.”

Some wallet manufacturers have started selling products that will block the transmission of the cards so thieves can’t steal the information.

Michael Levesque, owner of the Corinna-based Perfect Fit USA, realized that there was nothing on the market available for police who have credit cards in their wallet. Perfect Fit makes wallets for law enforcement with a cutout for their badges.

Perfect Fit will begin offering wallets with RFID shielding by the end of the month, said Levesque.

Levesque said he was contacted by a government agency he regularly does business with and was asked to offer wallets and ID holders with the RFID-blocking fabric inside.

“They wanted us to have this material, so I found it,” said Levesque.

Perfect Fit specializes in wallets for law enforcement, fire departments and government agencies. They have 1,400 dies from departments all over the world that can be cut into the leather in order to fit a badge perfectly.

“We got three more today,” said Levesque with a laugh. “It’s a never-ending database.”

Adding the nickel-copper ripstop fabric that blocks the RFID transmission was a logical addition to his wallets.

“It’s a niche and we’re taking it one step further and being proactive on what’s going on out there as far as identity theft and just offering it to law enforcement,” said Levesque.

Perfect Fit will stick to making only badge wallets, he said, and not wallets for the general public.

“You can’t compete with China [in that category],” said Levesque.

U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud replica watches, D-Maine, will visit the Corinna plant on Wednesday to view the new wallets for himself.

“We’re going to make him a wallet and it’s going to have a Perfect Fit badge in it,” said Levesque.

Perfect Fit offers 3,700 varieties of items, Levesque said, including belts, gloves and holders for flashlights, batons, handcuffs and radios.

He has had to add more staff in order to keep up with demand.

“We’re up 15 percent [in sales] for 2012 from last year replica watches,” said Levesque. “We’ve never gone the other way. We’ve had a couple years with only 2-3 percent growth, but this year is already stacking up to be [great] with new products.”

The Corinna facility employs 23 people, three of them added this year. The sales office is located in Goshen, N.Y.

Because Perfect Fit’s badge wallets are produced in the United States, it gives Levesque’s company a leg up on his competition in Massachusetts, which imports its wallets from India.

“We just have pieces and put them together. We’ll be able to ramp this up in a matter of a week or two,” said Levesque, referring to the RFID-shielding wallets. His Bay State competitors “will have to tell the manufacturers what to make, sample them. It’s a pain. They’ll be months behind us on this, if not a year.”

In addition to law enforcement, Levesque said Perfect Fit has also been the go-to badge wallet maker for Hollywood.

“What’s the show with Kiefer Sutherland? ‘24’ — We did all that stuff,” said Levesque.

Bella was admitted to the hospital on Friday, but it is unclear what symptoms she exhibited that led to this hospital admission.

“Rick and his wife Karen have taken their daughter Bella to the hospital,” said Santorum spokesman Hogan Gidley in a written statement Friday. “The family requests prayers and privacy as Bella works her way to recovery.”

In January, the Santorum family took Bella to the hospital when she contracted double pneumonia in her lungs.

Bella Santorum suffers from Trisomy 18, a rare, but serious genetic condition Trisomy 18 Kuro Sumi Tattoo Ink, which kills about 90 percent of children before or during birth. Bella has defied those odds and is three years old.

Bella’s condition has had an effect on the campaign trail. Mitt Romney’s campaign said it would yank a negative television ad from the Pennsylvania airwaves “until further notice.”

Santorum had cleared his Monday schedule, but currently has two events scheduled in Pennsylvania on Tuesday – a morning rally in Bedford and an appearance at the “American Heartland Conversation on Faith, Family and American Values” at Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster in the evening.  He will campaign in the Keystone State through Thursday and speak at the NRA conference in St. Louis, Missouri on Friday.

Chicago Banking on $7 Billion to Fix Crumbling Inf

CHICAGO – Gridlock and dysfunction in Washington, coupled with the aftereffects of U.S. economic malaise, have spurred cities like Chicago to take matters into their own hands when it comes to rebuilding crumbling infrastructure.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who knows a thing or two about Washington’s incompetence after working in Congress and the White House for more than a decade, this week unveiled a new $7 billion infrastructure plan that he believes will create 30,000 jobs in the next three years.

“Whether it’s renewing our parks or repairing our pipes, repaving our roads or rebuilding our rails, retrofitting our buildings or revitalizing our bridges, we must restore Chicago’s core,” Emanuel said Thursday in unveiling the plan, called “Building a new Chicago.”

The project is an ambitious one, designed to address flaws underground, on land and in the skies above the city: renovate, repair or rebuild more than 100 bus and train stations; create the first 16 miles of a rapid transit bus route; open two new runways at the city’s O’Hare airport; acquire 180 new acres of parklands; build 20 new playgrounds and 12 new parks; replace 900 miles of water pipes; modernize public schools and colleges; and retrofit city buildings to reduce their energy consumption.

That all sounds well and good. But how can America’s third-largest city embark on such a sprawling plan without receiving federal help or raising taxes? The answer lies in the private sector.

“Nobody is looking to Washington to be a savior anymore,” Joseph Schwieterman, a transportation specialist at DePaul University in Chicago, said. “During the recession, the federal government was seen as an important financier, but the stimulus is over and it’s obvious the federal government isn’t going to be able to provide as much as it once did. So now the mayor wants to bring private firms to the table in Chicago to run the city more like a business …

“He’s not using the word ‘privatization’ Tattoo Kits For Sale, but there’s an element that’s similar to that, where a firm may Miami Ink, for instance, manage City Hall for a fee and in the process lower the electric bill and custodial costs. It’s exciting, but we all know the devil is in the details.”

Under the new arrangement, a non-profit fund known as the Chicago Infrastructure Trust – unveiled last month with former President Bill Clinton in attendance – will employ the resources and experience of the private sector to address Chicago’s public infrastructure problems.

“This model of private financing for public infrastructure is happening all over the world, but not here in America,” Emanuel noted.

Robert Puentes, director of the metropolitan infrastructure initiative at the Brookings Institution, praised Chicago’s aggressive approach.

“People understand that the city’s infrastructure needs to be fixed, especially when compared to other countries and their modern airports,” Puentes said. “People also understand that on a national level the federal government is not promising a lot of money to rain down on cities and states and metropolitan areas, so cities like Chicago are now starting to devise their own plans for how they’re going to make these big broad investments in infrastructure.

“A lot of folks have big plans and broad ambitions, but what’s unique about the Chicago project is that it’s both tied to their economic plan for the future and new interesting ways to fund that infrastructure…

“In recent years the U.S. has really fallen behind in attracting private investors to domestic infrastructure. Other countries are far out ahead and we’ve learned a lot from them,” he continued. “This is a uniquely American approach. It’s not going to just turn over U.S. infrastructure to private partners for them to run and operate unencumbered. What we’re really talking about is a partnership among levels of government, the private sector, philanthropy to conceive what we need to invest in and what risks and rewards can be shared. ”

From the city’s congested roads to its decaying trains, from its polluted river to its overcrowded airport, there is plenty of work to be done in the City of Broad Shoulders. But this is a city that knows how to rebuild: A little more than two decades after the city was destroyed by the Great Chicago Fire, it hosted the world’s fair in 1893.

With states and cities across the country slashing their budgets and scrapping essential services in a desperate effort to merely stay afloat, Chicago’s project stands out as especially impressive. Emanuel made it clear that he has no intention of waiting around for help from the federal or state government.

“We can’t allow dysfunction, whether in Washington or [state capital] Springfield, to delay our economic development,” he stated.

Analysts such as Puentes and Schwieterman predict that it won’t be long before other cities follow Chicago’s lead, assuming the project here goes well.

“The frustration for cities comes from the fact that Washington doesn’t do anything – they get in the way and they’re not being supportive. There’s a recognition of that,” Puentes said. “Many other metropolitan areas are watching what’s going on in Chicago and their successes and failures are really going to resound in the rest of the country. Chicago is first out of the box, but they won’t be the last.”

Schwieterman agreed. “I think other cities have no choice but to follow suit,”  he said. “We can’t rely on government to dig us out of the hole – we’ve got to find new sources of revenue. It’s a new reality.”

But that is not to say there are not risks involved in Chicago’s plan. In the past Top Tattoo Machines, the city has suffered from public-private partnership projects gone wrong, such as the fiasco that has resulted from a 2008 deal that leased Chicago’s parking meters for 75 years to a private company. It now costs Chicago drivers a whopping $5.75 an hour to park downtown during peak hours.

“With our parking meter situation, people are upset, but the government is locked into a contract,” Schwieterman said. “If people notice higher fees from this, that sure can create a firestorm real quick.”

Puentes said, “The public is right to wonder if this sounds too good to be true.  We could certainly do more with less, like realizing some savings through reforms, but private investors are profit-driven – that’s why they’re in this game – so in order to do this you have to figure out a way to pay them back with interest or figure out how they benefit from certain investments.

“The danger is falling into the trap that it’s free money,” he said. “It’s certainly not.”

VIDEOHuey Lewis! Michael J. Fox! Integra

Posted By admin on May 15, 2012

Here it is folks, the ethos of at least the second half of the 1980s, neatly encapsulated in 30 seconds. This 1989 home-market commercial launching the DOHC VTEC engine in the Honda Integra plays up the American appeal baked into the car. Badged as an Acura here in the States Tattoo Supplies, the Integra was cementing the reputation of Honda’s upmarket rides in a market that still viewed Honda as a maker of economical, inexpensive cars. The bludgeon-y juxtaposition of an Integra zipping around and Alex P. Keaton Michael J. Fox doing backflips tells you how elated the Integra is supposed to make you feel, but this commercial just makes us feel old. From the opening chord stabs on the Yamaha DX7 to the Huey Lewis soundtrack, this little spot brings 1989 flooding back with a veangance. Many a sunny summer afternoon was whiled away cruising the bike lane with a mongrel Diamondback Viper picked from the trash and resurrected. Integras were starting to get noticed as cars enthusiasts could love, and being junior enthusiasts, we took notice when one motored by. They look especially good when sunset is near, on a winding road dappled with golden sunlight. Ahh, memories – white or red are particulary striking Tattoo Supplies, too. What’s nice to see is that MJF could handle something other than a DeLorean, but we still want to know, “hey kid, what’s with the life preserver?”
